Department Head Administrative Duties:

Provide administrative leadership and oversight of research, education and extension programs within the Department.

Coordinate development of extramural funding efforts and serve as liaison with industry groups, commodity representatives and government agencies.

Support research and extension centers statewide and liaison with the Cooperative Extension Service.

Ensure innovative teaching and curriculum development.

General Areas of Research Interest:

My interests are in administration of applied and discovery-oriented research in plant pathology.  My personal research interests are in mycology and fungal physiology and I have conducted research on classical biological control of weeds utilizing plant pathogens.  I seek to provide direction and leadership for multidisciplinary research projects within the Department through strategic planning and coordination.  My goal is to guide the Department in mission-oriented research aimed at solving specific disease problems within the State.
