Service

Has served as the President of the Arkansas Crop Protection Association, the Arkansas State Horticultural Society, and the American Association of Pesticide Safety Educators.

Research Emphasis

Teaching/Extension:
Coordinates the Pesticide Safety Education Program for training and certifying pesticide applicators.  Develops the training materials and funding mechanisms to support both private and commercial applicator certification.  Conducts numerous training classes each year in which approximately 1500 commercial applicators are trained on the various aspects of pesticide safety.  Topics include label comprehension, drift minimization, personal and environmental safety, application equipment and calibration, integrated pest management, and pesticide stewardship.  Approximately 4,000 private applicators are certified each by county Extension agents using the materials and equipment provided by Mr. Spradley.

Serves as the State Contact for the Southern Region Integrated Pest Management Center.  Coordinates the development of crop profiles and pest management strategic plans for Arkansas commodities.
